All of the carpet in the Tioga was a mess including the cab.
The previous owners had two adorable white terriers and their hair is everywhere.
So out with the old carpet and in with the new!
The floor under the carpet was solid.
For sound deadening, we installed U-Seal Band.
It's actually a roofing material. I'd read many blogs and forums
researching Dynamat and found folks were using U-Seal
as a less expensive alternative. You can get it at HomeDepot for $16.00 a roll.
Installing the U-Seal Band.
We used the old carpet as a template for the new carpet.
We installed MP Global Best 400 underlayment
for extra sound deadening and moisture protection.
(We are also going to use that under the wood laminate floor we install later.)
We chose an indoor/outdoor area rug in Granite to use in the cab.
It was the perfect size and color and only $18!
We used 3M adhesive spray to adhere the carpet to the underlayment.
The hubby installed the seats above the carpet b.c he wants to replace them.
This will make removing them in the future much easier.
Still need to finish covering the doghouse...another project, another time. :)
Before & After!
AND finally a little grill makeover.
Just a little wash and a can of Rustoleum.....wallah!
Going to try the toothpaste trick to defog the headlights.
I'll let ya know how it turns out.
Material list (for carpet):
- 1.5 rolls of U-Seal Band - $16 each
- 6'x8' Underlayment - $50 for 100 sq ft
- 6'x8' Indoor/Outdoor Rug - $18
- 3M Adhesive Spray - on hand
Material list (for grill):
- Rustolem Metallic Spray in dark steel - on hand
Lessons learned:
The hubby did the majority of these projects but one lesson I learned was cut your new carpet larger then the old. Always better to be too big then too small.
