The Tioga Project Begins! Surveying The Water Damage.

We knew the Tioga had water damage in the over the cab bunk but to what extent, we were not sure.

Day 1 - The demo begins

Removing the trim.
All metal trim removed.
This seam is the cause of the majority of the water damage.
The wood behind this seam fell apart in my hand.

Behind the seam

When we pulled out the sliding bunk we found water had seeped to the low point of the bunk.

Veneer soft and easily removed.

The floor of the bunk under the slide portion of the bed.

We are not planning to replace this front decorative cabinetry that we removed here.

Wires from the top marker lights.

We are planning to re-install this side cabinetry. I labeled each piece so
I know how to put it back together.

Left side cabinet will be re-installed.

Lessons learned:
  1. Take lots of pictures from all angles of your demo so you will know how it came apart and you will be able to put it back together.
  2. Put all screws in ziploc bags and label them even if you don't plan to use them that way you know what came out of where, how long it was, and if you do decided to replace the screws with new ones you won't need to run to the hardware store if you find you are short one.

More demo to come....
